Flowers wishes

May is the month of love, and also the month we celebrate Mother’s Day. And because moms deserve the best, we have prepared a simple but beautiful activity that kids and moms can enjoy together: flower cards.

It’s a little home project full of colour, kind words and the joy of spending time together. The child and mom make several heart-shaped paper flowers that carry messages, wishes or thank-you notes. Whether you make one or make twenty, they all end up in a vase as a reminder of what’s most important. Being together.

What I’ll need:

  • a vase
  • coloured paper – ideally red, pink, yellow and green
  • flower templates and folding instructions (download here)
  • crayons, markers
  • scissors and glue
  • mini pegs
  • skewers or straws (to attach the flowers)
  • tape
  • a few quiet moments to write the cards

How to do it?

  1. Print out the flower templates, preferably on coloured paper. If you have white, it’s okay, the children can colour the flowers as they like..
  2. Cut out the flowers and write a short message, card or thank you on them.
  3. Fold each flower according to the instructions.
  4. Cut out the bees and glue them on a small pin.
  5. With the pegs, clip the flowers into a heart shape.
  6. Glue them to a skewer or straw.

And that’s it! The bouquet is ready, and now comes the most important part… Now begins your May ritual. Read your wishes and messages one by one, for example:

  • One flower every day in May.
  • Or one wish every Sunday in May.
  • Or just whenever you feel like it… at breakfast, at bedtime, after school…

Tip: if you don’t have pins, you can punch a hole punch through the folded heart and tie a ribbon.
